Feeding for Adult Maintenance: It is important that you feed Pro Plan to your adult cat "free choice" throughout the day, rather than as just a single feeding only at mealtime. Food intake required to maintain ideal body condition will vary, depending on age, activity and environment. Watch your cat’s weight and adjust food amounts accordingly. If you have a kitten, or a pregnant or nursing cat, you should continue feeding an appropriate Pro Plan kitten formula.
To help your pet adjust without digestive upset, we recommend transitioning gradually over 7 to 10 days:
Days 1–2: Start with 25% new food mixed with 75% of their current food
Days 3–4: Go to a 50/50 mix of new and old
Days 5–6: Shift to 75% new food and just 25% of the old
Day 7+: Full switch to 100% new food
Some pets might do well with a slightly faster transition, while others (especially those with sensitive stomachs or food allergies) might need a bit more time—listen to your pet and adjust as needed.
